The answer is Yes! And I strongly recommend previewing your ads before you release them, as this can help you to spot errors before they go live.

While creating or editing your display ads through the Google Ads web interface, a preview pane opens on the right-hand side of the page. By default it shows the mobile preview, but you can also choose desktop preview by clicking on the desktop icon. Don’t forget to preview your ad on both mobile and desktop.

It’s particularly important to preview and check Responsive Display Ads carefully, because Google creates these for you and you don’t want to discover later that the logo is missing or an image is cropped strangely or the titles or text don’t mix well.

One thing to keep in mind when previewing Display ads – the preview isn’t always exactly what a user will see.

With responsive ads, Google will resize the different elements to fit the space. Sometimes to make them fit well they will animate the ads such as rotating between the title and description. Google may also make the colour from the image wrap around the border for the text rather than having the image and the text entirely separate.

So, when it comes to Google’s “creative license” with RDA ads, unfortunately you can’t preview these to the level of detail you might like.

When you preview your responsive ad it will also show you text and native formats even if you have these turned off. You can toggle between formats to only show Image ads if you have text ads turned off.

When it comes to fixed-size ads, the preview should exactly match the way the ad will look, with the exception of ecommerce Dynamic ads, which adjust the pictures of products in line with a shopping feed.

It’s important to always preview fixed-size and Dynamic ads as well, so that you know what its going to look like in real life. Previewing enabled us to spot and fix this error in an ecommerce Dynamic ad where the same product showed up twice:
