If you’re running Google Ads campaigns or trying to improve your website’s organic rankings and you are targeting a specific location it’s worthwhile checking whether your keywords have adequate search volume.
You can check the volume of searches by location in the Google Ads Keyword Planner. To do this, you can change the location set in the Keyword Planner and then type in your keywords to check how they perform.
Keep in mind that your ad targeting in Google Ads can actually be more granular geographically than the Keyword Planner, so this might not give you accurate results if you only sell within a small geographical region. In Google Ads you can advertise down to the suburb / postcode level, whereas in Keyword Planner it will only show you down to the city level, or sometimes down to a city district for densely populated cities.
In Keyword Planner, you can filter search volume for a set of keywords by location, language, search networks and date range.
