Hi its Petra here! Today, I’m going to show you how to find where your changes have been made in Google Ads.

This “Change History” feature definitely comes in handy, especially if you are changing from one agency to another or when you’ve got more than one person working on your ad account at the same time. You can see what kind of changes have been made in the past, and track changes down to specific dates.

1. When would you need to find out what changes have been made in your Google Ads account?

If an agency or freelancer has been working for you, you can see what changes they’ve made to your account. If you or your team member has been working on your account and can’t remember what it is you’ve done, you can go in and check to see what changes have been made.

2. Where is the report that shows you the history logs?

To find the history logs you need to go into your Google Ads account and down the left side you’ll see the campaigns. Select the campaigns you’re interested in on the far left, or if you click on the link “Campaigns” it will give you a list of all your campaigns as well.

Once you’ve selected a campaign, you can see a link for “Change History” down the bottom. When you click on Change History it will show you the change log for that campaign.

Note: You can look at change history for the whole account as well, but it may be a bit busy.

3. What information can you get from the history logs?

The change logs will tell you:

  • which user made the change
  • the date and time change is made
  • what the change was that was made
  • the specific campaign
  • the specific ad group

4. Can you filter down to different types of changes, or specific users?

Yes, you can drill down to only certain types of changes. If you’re in “All Changes”, you’ll be able to see all of them. If you want to go down to just particular types of changes, you can choose from the options across the top of the history log. Options include Account Change, Ad Change, Bid Change etc.

You can also add a filter so you can search for a particular user, a particular date, a particular campaign or whatever it is that you want to search for.
